Civilian Defense Volunteer Offices

Civilian Defense Volunteer Offices were the nerve centre for communicating the roles and responsibilities required for both the Citizens Defense Corps (protection of the population) and the Citizens Service Corps (aiding the war effort in their neighborhood).

“A Civilian Defense Volunteer Office” was 27 pages and originally issued as a 6” x 9”, 35 page handbook. The revised and updated edition was 8” x 10”. It provided directions for the organization and operation of a volunteer office and listed and classified a wide variety of civilian defense work opportunities.
