U.S. Civilian Defense during World War II

This website provides a comprehensive overview of the history of the Office of Civilian Defense (OCD), covering the period from its inception in May 1941 to its closure in June 1945. It features details regarding the units, insignia, equipment, publications, and a variety of other materials distributed by the agency throughout World War II.

Over these four years, the OCD coordinated the US Citizen's Defense Corps, a large volunteer force committed to safeguarding the American public from the threat of enemy assaults on the United States mainland.

Furthermore, numerous Americans contributed to additional initiatives aimed at supporting their local communities and the war effort through the US Citizens' Service Corps.

I am always interested in adding new information and items related to the U.S. Civilian Defence program of World War II, especially period photos, armbands, badges, and side caps to the site and blog

We, the people…

In this critical moment of our history, all of us, from all walks of life, all shades of political opinion, all races and creeds, must organise and train ourselves—to defend ourselves.

And when we join together to defend our local community, we add strength not only to our community but to our national community as well—we help to fortify our whole union.
